Meal prep

Who doesn't like a good meal prep? [first I should say we are NOT talking about your boring chicken breast and/or tilapia and broccoli] I'm not going to sit here and tell you that you can't succeed without food prep or any of that bull (although it does make things easier), but I would be fairly surprised if you told me you just didn't like having your food prepared in the morning so you don't have to deal with it. So you can get an extra 20 min of sleep. Stay at the gym for another 20 min. Have more time to do your make up. Read the news. Catch up on your favorite blog. Whatever.

I know I much prefer the extra time. But let's be real here, I don't do it 100% every week. Sometimes I do the bare minimum and sometimes I go the whole 9 yards. It just depends how lazy I am feeling on Sunday. This Sunday I went all the way. The whole 9. For me this means preparing and putting together my lunches, snacks, and organizing them nicely in my fridge.

First thing is finding something yummy that you don't mind having all week. This week I chose to make zoodles with this yummy avocado "sauce" I made recently, topped off with chicken thigh.

To start off I grilled my chicken while making my dinner:

While that was grilling I got going on my zoodles. (I use a vegetti to make mine, $13 on amazon). I added some cherry tomatoes on top and then once the chicken was done I added that on top too:

And that was that for my lunch prep. Each morning I'll make the sauce fresh so that the avocado doesn't start browning, but this only takes a few minutes.

I also prep my morning/afternoon snack (depends on if it's a gym day!) so I don't have to worry about it. This is usually some sort of a sweet potato egg bake. This week I made a curried bacon egg bake:

I cut that baby up, added to little baggies, put some carrots in a bag, then put it all in the fridge. Like so:

I even put my apples and avocado on the same shelf so that everything is just there when I need it.

And here's a final pic of my lunch after the avocado sauce :

So that's it. You can make it as easy or as complicated as you want. And remember it doesn't HAVE to be boring!

Decorating for fall

I know some of you out there are still experiencing highs in the 90s, but last week over here was in the 50s! We recently moved from Las Vegas to St. Louis, so this is just madness. Not that it matters. Because I think I still would have decorated even if it was in the 90s. And to be fair, it was still pretty warm when I started decorating. Don't hate! September = Fall. Right? Right. Plus this is the first year I'm not in school, so I actually had this fancy lil' thing called "free time".

Anyways. I got a bug in me, so I headed on over to Michael's to get a whole bunch of crap that I had no real plan for. I brought it home hoping I could figure it all out. Well I did. And I'm very happy with the results. Take a look!

For our dining room table:

You can't really tell in the picture, but there are lil plastic pumpkins on the flowers. It's so cute! So I picked out my fake flowers and such and then I also grabbed some of that straw crap that gets absolutely everywhere and is the biggest pain in your ass but it's so damn cute that you just deal with it. Yeah, that stuff. I stuffed straw into my vase and voila!

Here's a close up of the other stuff. On the left we have little glasses (they're actually wine glasses), again stuffed with straw and then some of those pine cones that smell like heaven. I mean cinnamon. (PS these pine cones came with little pumpkins too!) And then on the right I got some cardboard pumpkins and skulls and painted them. The pumpkin has a glittery orange stem that's kind of hard to see.

These are some decorations I made for a little table we have. I have 3 flasks: 1 is filled with more of the pine cone stuff, the other 2 are filled with some more straw and some other flowers I picked out. In the cage is yet again more straw and some baby pumpkins.

Last thing! These might be my favorite. Again these were cardboard pumpkin and skull that I just painted black. On the pumpkin I used modge podge to apply silver glitter. On the skull I glued on rhinestones randomly to make a swirl.

And that's it. That's all I got for now.
